How to use derma roller

There’s always a desire to have a device such as derma roller at hand. Its justified and understood that everybody does not have time for a visit to a beauty parlour, but every woman wants to look well-kept every day.

So that this cosmetic procedure brings you benefit instead of injury or damage, here are some features of derma roller a person should know. If the needles of rollers have a penetration of more than 1mm, then this can be harmful. So for home there are two types of rollers available and can be used.

1. For face: Derma rollers whose needle length does not exceed 0.5 mm.

2. For rest of body: Rollers with needle length not exceeding 1.0 -1.5mm.

If you intend to use derma rollers with needle length more than 1.00 mm, then please have painkillers at hand and persons having sensitive skin are advised not to use these rollers every day.

It should also be noted that, derma rollers are a device of personal hygiene and not be shared with other family members or even intimate friends. A good personal hygiene will help you to prevent from getting infections.

Contraindications for use of derma rollers:

Just like other medical procedures using derma rollers also have some contraindications. These are some skin diseases and infection such as:

• Fungal infections.

• Eczema.

• Acne.

• Enlarged moles.

• Warts.

• Open wounds or scars on skin.

• Irritation of skin.

• Skin irritation due to burns.

Recommendations:

At home the whole procedure takes about 5-10 minutes, depending upon the area treated. Those who are using derma rollers for the first time, it is not advised to use it for once in three days and then gradually increasing the frequency of the application. After the procedure there is a redness of skin, which is normal and it disappears within 24 hours.

The successful application of derma-roller in domestic conditions largely depends upon the way and the consistency of the procedure.

Step.1. Preparation of the device:

Before starting the process, it’s necessary to disinfect the working part of the device. For this immerse the roller in disinfectant solution for 20-30 minutes. As a disinfectant you can use.

• 75% alcohol solution.

• Hydrogen peroxide 6%.

• Solution of lizoform.

While the derma roller is being disinfected, prepare the table. For this you will need a boiled & ironed towel.

Put the roller on the towel and let it completely dry. Moist rollers should not be used.

Step.2. Preparation of the area to be treated {skin}:

Before the procedure you should thoroughly clean the surface of skin with soap and disinfectant. If your derma roller has needle length of 1.0mm, then prior to procedure an anesthetic cream or lotion is advised to be applied to the skin.

Step 3 Use of active agents {substances}:

Efficiency of the procedure increases several times if an active agent suitable for your skin is applied to the skin. These days there are a variety of mixtures available, e.g.

• Hyaluronic acid.

• Collagen

• Beta-carotene.

• Active serum.

• Mixture of vitamins. {A, C, E etc.}.

Methods of applying active agents:

There are several methods of applying active substances during the procedure, such as

1. Applying active agents on the prepared skin area, before using derma-roller.

2. Using these agents immediately after the procedure.

3. Active agents can be used in two separate ways.

a. Partly before the use of rollers.

b. Immediately after completing the procedure.

Step 4.How to use derma roller:

Divide the area which has to be treated into small parts {sections} i.e. the face, forehead, nose, cheeks, chin, neck, and skin around the lips. Now take the derma roller and swipe it vertically, horizontally and diagonally at least 10 times applying with equal force.

Use this technique for all the divided body parts. The whole procedure takes approximately 5-10 minutes. Redness of skin may appear, but this is normal.

Step5. Repetition of active agents:

If you have chosen the 3rd step of using active substances, then immediately after using derma roller apply the second portion of active agent. Now due to “micro channels” formed after the use of derma roller the absorption of skin is increased by 40 times. Wait for few minutes till the drug is completely absorbed.

Step6. Skin protection:

After the end of procedure apply a face mask for 20 minutes. Avoid using inhomogeneous masks e.g. clay masks because it can clog the micro channels.

It is also recommended to use nourishing and moisturizing lotions with SPF- factors after the procedure. If you have a sensitive skin it not advised to repeat the process, until the skin irritation is not finished.

Step7. Cleaning of Derma-Roller:

After each procedure the apparatus should be thoroughly washed and disinfected. The cleaning procedure includes

1. Put the rollers in 3% hydrogen peroxide or 2% solution of soda.

2. Wash it completely under water, until all the traces of cosmetic material are washed away.

3. Keep the apparatus in the disinfectant for 20-30 minutes.

The derma rollers should be kept in a protective case. In case you drop the device, it should be replaced. Damaged derma rollers can harm your skin.
